Here’s Power Thai Kitchen reviews after trying some of their recommended Malay dishes and their halal mookata. There are many varieties of halal dishes all under one roof to cater to diners of all ages. From halal western teppanyaki grills to chef fried mee goreng, nasi padang, nasi lemak and hands on halal mookata grill, you will be spoilt for choices here.
For Halal mookata lovers, you can now get their value set combo ($25 nett) that comes with meats, seafood(prawn & squid ring), surimi, quail egg and greens for 2 people to share. This combo set comes in 1 platter of assorted meats and seafood and 1 tray of mix garden greens (kang kong, enoki, corn, oyster mushroom and cabbage).
There are 5 types of meats in this combo – garlic chicken, black pepper chicken and teriyaki chicken, shabu shabu mutton and shabu shabu beef brisket. These meats are well marinated and cut to thin strips of meat so that it sears quickly on the mookata grill pan without losing the juices.
The result is a tender, juicy and savour bite with a golden crisp on the grill side of the meat. You can also butter grilled or sambal grill your meats with free flow butter and sambal chilli for mookata diners.
Do not miss their cheese dip ($2.50) that is a mix of mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Warm these up in the soup ring and dip your seafood or meats into this hot melty pot with a cheese pull.
Beside the halal mookata combo set, you can also add-on ala carte squid ($3.90), prawn ($4.90), salmon cubes ($8.90) (in teriyaki, garlic & black pepper marinade), half shell scallop ($6.50), mussels ($5.90), abalone ($4.50) and even slipper lobster ($10.90). Enjoy the best of both worlds with seafood and meats on a hot mookata grill.
At Power Thai Kitchen, if you love nasi padang but want a giant platter for 4-5 pax to share, give their famous Nasi Ambeng ($52 nett) a try. This Nasi Ambeng is served on a large plate with rice serving meant for 4 people or more. The steamed rice is also topped with serunding (grated coconut) for a sweet and spicy combo when enjoyed with the sambal chilli on the side.
It also has 8 other dishes to go with the rice such as ikan kering (Dry salted fish), ayam masak merah (chicken in tomato paste), rendang lembu (beef in coconut milk & spices), paru berempah (fried beef lungs with spices), begedil (creamy potato with spices), terong balado (eggplant in chilli sauce), sambal telur burung(quail egg in chilli paste) and sambal goreng(stir fried spicy tofu tempeh). We particularly enjoy the crispy and crunchy ikan Kering which renders the whole platter with a deep umami flavour.
The paru berempah (fried beef lungs with spices) are also surprisingly tender to the bite and crisp on the outside.
You can also get chef fried mee goreng, teppanyaki lamb racks, and kampong style old school nasi lemak and even tradition treats such as kuih lopis with gula Melaka.
They also have a professional barista coffee machine that make espresso and some atas Spanish latte from grounded whole coffee beans.
If you love traditional teh tarik (frothy strong milk tea), you can also get it here.
