One of the signature dish at this 13 years old Singapore Chinese restaurant is of course their grilled fish. Here our Jiu Gong Ge Ming Tang Grilled Fish review after trying their chef recommended dishes. The signature Singapore First Crunchy Skin Grilled Fish with Tropical Fruits is whole butterflied limbo fish topped with a tropical fruit of your choice in a simmering spicy sauce. With this 13 Anniversary, you can get a Second grilled fish promotion for $18++ (U.P. $38++).
The fish is which is known for their chunky flesh and tender meats soaks up all the savoury gravy making every bite extra juicy and succulent.
This grilled fish has a unique crunchy crust almost like that of a fried chicken. You need to eat the crust first to enjoy the crunch before the gravy get to it and devour that crunch. This golden armour like crust that encased the meat would be nice if it hovers above the gravy for a longer time.
This flavour of Lychee grilled fish also comes with assorted ingredients such as lychee, tofu, bamboo shoots and some greens for varying texture. You also have the option to add on more ingredients like Chinese cabbage, lotus roots, sweet potato noodle, instant noodle, black fungus, enoki and konjac noodle at $3.80 per portion.
For this 13th anniversary celebration which runs from 21 March to 20 April 2025, you get to spin this wheel with minimum spend of $100 in store in a single receipt (gst and service charge not counted). The prizes includes either return free dishes or return vouchers that can be used to offset your food bills on your next visit.
With this 13 Anniversary, you can also get this Stir Fried Meat With Chilli (U.P. 16.90) for only $1 with minimum spend of $50 in store. This is a popular Hunan food that is made by stir frying spiral green chilli with pork and fungus in a savoury sauce. The meat is flavourful with savoury and peppery flavours from the green spiral chilli. The earthy green chilli in this dish can also be enjoyed and not just a flavouring or garnish. It has a peppery and flora flavour to it.
We also tried their live kungfu bullfrogs in savoury sauces with pickled sour pepper. These are bullfrogs and are meatier than the normal ones in frog porridge. We were told only live bullfrogs are used for this dish.
The frog meat are tender, juicy and springy with melty tendon holding the meat together.
The juicy sour pepper and the peppercorn that make up the simmering gravy is also extra addictive and very appetizing.
They also have Four Heavenly Kings BBQ skewers for this 13th Anniversary campaign with buy 4 Get 1 free skewer. The Four Heavenly Kings BBQ skewers are pork tenderloin, pig kidney, chicken feet and beef tendon. We particularly enjoy the beef tendon for its gelatinous and melty bite. The meat skewers (pork, beef, chicken and lamb) are also well seasoned and served piping hot, tender and juicy. If you are looking for a bbq skewers place in Bugis, you can give this a try. Their bbq skewers are hand skewered and freshly charcoal grilled with lots of flavours.
