live-seafood-restaurantDuring this visit, we are also delighted that they have expanded the zi char menu to a full fledged menu that can make any host proud with live seafood in the restaurant and various style of zi char dishes. They have included Chinese cuisines, Malaysian food and Singaporean delights beside their forte Hong Kong Style dai pai dong dishes.

live-seafoodThey are currently having live soon hock at only $16.80. You can either get it steamed in HK style with superior soy sauce or deep fried. They have limited stock daily, do check with them for availability before heading over.

live soon hockWe tried the steamed HK style Soon Hock with superior soy sauce ($16.80), the flesh are delicate and has a mild springy texture. The flesh is held together by a thin gelatinous skin and a fish head that will ignite a fight among fish connoisseurs.

singapore chilli crabThe chef recommended 3 for $50 live mud crabs for a full Singaporean style zi char experience. You can get them in various flavours such as Singapore Chilli Crab, Black Pepper Crab and also Spring Onion Ginger crab. We were told the most popular one is the Singapore Chilli Crab and surely it did not disappoint. The sauce is thick, luscious, laced with silky egg white and savoury with fruity undertones.

crab-promotionThe crabs are easy to eat with pre-cracked claws where the flavours of the sauce can fully infused into the flesh. It has a good amount of meat to keep us happy even though it is only $50 for 3 whole live crab promotion.

Five Star Dim Sum live seafoodClaypot Prawn and Vermicelli ($18.80) consists of a piping hot pot of large prawns simmering in savoury vermicelli. In this dish, both the prawns and the vermicelli take centre stage. The prawns are plump and sweet with a buttery head. The vermicelli soaks up the juices from the prawns, savoury juices from the soften cabbage and infused with the aroma of refreshing, minty and sweet cilantro. If you are there to try their dim sum, be sure to get some of the above Five Star Hong Kong Style Handmade Dim Sum live seafood, claypots and zi char.
