Here’s our PUTIEN CNY Set Menu review after trying their eight course Fortune Set Meal for 6 pax. One of the must have for CNY is their Pot of Goodies which comes with 12 premium ingredients such as abalone, sea cucumber, dried scallop, fish maw, dried razor clam, roasted pork, big prawn, braised chicken wing, pork trotter, Fatt Choy, Japanese flower mushroom, Chinese yam and fried bean curd. This PUTIEN Pot of Goodies can also be bought separately in various sizes for $218 nett (4 pax), $318 nett (6 pax), $428 nett (8 pax) and $518 nett(10 pax) for takeaway.
This PUTIEN Pencai is glazed with a combo of duck feet soup and special soup base. The duck feet soup is made by simmering duck feet, pork belly with skin, thigh meat, whole chicken, chicken feet, chicken oil, ham, seasoned with white pepper and rock sugar. The special soup base is made by boiling whole chicken, pork belly with skin, thigh meat, dried scallop, dried oyster, pork rind, chicken bones, chicken oil and seasoned with white pepper and rock sugar. The glaze for this pencai is full of collagen goodness with the umami of seafood and hearty flavours of chicken. The golden finish pot comes with a glass lid and is compatible with stove and induction cookers. Since it comes with its own pot, you can easily reheat it to add on more ingredients found at home such as greens or noodles to enjoy the luxurious pencai soup base like a hotpot!
The abalones are tender and well braised. There is one medium size abalone for everyone in this 6 pax Pot of Goodies pencai.
The sea cucumber is infused with the flavour of the gravy with a soft, slippery and gelatinous texture. The dried scallops are thick and fragile that disintegrates in your mouth into an umami bomb of oceanic flavours. Fish maw are soft, springy and holds all the rich gravy flavour. Dried razor clam has a deep flavour of shellfish with a mild chewy texture. Roasted pork is a mixed cut of fat and lean meats with a deep briny kick. Big prawn are sweet and meaty. Braised chicken wing are very flavourful with a rich soy aroma. Pork trotter are simmered till soft and giggly with collagen and skin that melts in the mouth. Fatt Choy just melts into each slurp of the rich gravy with silky texture. Japanese flower mushroom are thick and juicy. Chinese yam are crunchy with a mild starchy tone. Fried bean curd has an interesting mild chewy texture and infused with the gravy.
Prosperity Yusheng (Abalone) is a specially curated Lou Hei with many ingredients for a family gathering. There are various ingredients such as shredded Tangshan white ginger, shredded sweet red ginger, shredded Baihuaji cookies, shredded candied winter melon, shredded white radish, shredded green radish, shredded carrots, assortment of pickled shredded melons, pomelo and shredded lemon leaves. It comes with a separate plate of abalone with fresh lime. All these are plated in a takeaway disposable festive red round tray. In this pencai, they also added unique ingredients such as PUTIEN’s Fried seaweed, toasted crushed peanuts, sesame seeds and crackers. This Yusheng is seasoned with white pepper, cinnamon powder, peanut oil and homemade yusheng sauce. This Yusheng is also available for takeaway at $39.80 nett (small) or $62.80 nett (large). PUTIEN Yellow Croaker In Sweet And Sour Sauce is deep fried till crispy and golden. We are surprised by the size of this croaker fish which we find it similar to that of a grouper. It has a nice moist, delicate, thick chunky meat encrusted with a crunchy outer layer of battered skin. It is paired with a sweet and appetizing tangy sauce garnishes with assortment of diced fresh greens, cucumber, tomato, mushrooms, red sweet onions and scallions.
Stir Fried Yam with a candied coating, mildly sweet with a rich buttery flavour.
Dip these yam blocks into the tangy sauce from the Yellow croaker for more shiok.
Stir Fried Scallops With Broccoli In XO Sauce with conpoy chunks. The poached broccoli has a light refreshing crunch in umami convoy sauce. Scallop are well cooked to retain a tender and springy bite with light briny flavour to it.
Deep Fried Chicken With Garlic are savoury with a mild citrusy and sweet pungent flavour. Enjoy these crisp fried chicken with PUTIEN Spice Mom Chilli Sauce.
