Judge’s choice rocks singapore idol night
The judges made the right choice for the singers. Tonight was the best night so far. All performed well. To me Paul Twohill was the worst performer and Jasmine gave a surprise improvement. Enjoy the videos!
Jonathan delivers well tonight especially the first song. We can see the childish side of jonathan at the end of the video. The girly….yawooo, yawooo..
Paul Twohill’s performance. Boy next door song…i think its a bad choice.
Jasmine delivers a surprise improvement in her singing. This makes Paul Twohill look bad.
Hady’s good performance. I like the second one.

Jasmine did give a very surprising improvement especially on the first song. But I feel that Paul’s diction has improved a lot on first song “Do You Want To”. The second song is very endearing shows the boy-next-door in him. However I would agree that Paul does have room for improvement. He is really a natural talent, but he just need encouragement for that stress at strange times. And he also needs good mentor-guidance to direct him the right path. I believe in Paul and I believe he will make it to be a professional rock star some day.

By the way, thanks for the always very quick upload of the video clips. It helps a lot for working persons like me who sometimes could not catch the show at the programmed time.

There seems to be a problem with the video of Jonathan’s first song. It only plays until 00:32. Did anybody else experience this problem?

i think judges made a bad call with paul’s 2nd song. but really..out of the 4, paul has the biggest appeal, hes a true idol. hady, jon and jasmine can sing…but are not idol material… all 3 have no personality.

Are you sure the judges choice of songs were that great.. why did they chose such ulu ulu song like “out here” for jasmine? are the judges telling us that they are super out-dated?

If you guys think Dick Lee’s musical Forbidden City sounds alright, here are some of the lyrics:
1. I’m going to boil your head in chicken soup.
2. Like lovers need desire, like temples need a shrine.
3. overnight she blossom like a cherry tree that live too long without water.
4. a happy emperor makes a happy city and a happy concubine..(do it) every single night for 3 months.
5. Love requires Yang and Yin and for him to be happy he requires alot of yin, that is sex with the concubine..(it gets more profane, all in the name of “humor”).
what do you guys think?

generally i think the peformances for tonite were resonably good.
However,
i think while some improved, others mainly plateaued…
jasmine – unpredictable but ocasionally good.
johnathan – suave (or is it swave), but no punch in the voice
paul – does well for safe songs.. but no vocal power
hady – i expect more from this guy. got a feeling hes still holding back
seriously, i think its a pity that matilda left SI. Though i think she does not have the package (i.e looks wise- as quoted by dick) Shes the only one who sounds great and has the ability to do gymnastics with her voice.
However, looking back at Taufik, that guy wasnt that vocally strong.. initially. But he improved bit by bit all the way up to the finals. Taufik vs Sly was a no brainer for people who were not tone deaf.
It would be interesting who would be booted next and who will remain in the finals. But vocally, i think Paul should go. On a different note, i think he should work on the way he answer questions. He either mumbles or quacks some gibberish for an answer, thus making him sound like an N level student struggling through his orals. Pls man, I’m sure ‘Os’ have better command in language than the ‘CMIs’ in Singapore.
*CMIO – singapore’s social classification by inherent parenthood

the judges very tame this week. has the criticism scared them off? they must remember they have a responsibility to make fun of the contestants for our utmost pleasure. they cannot be boring. or we might switch channel.

Social phobia, also known as social anxiety disorder, involves overwhelming worry and self-consciousness about everyday social situations. The worry often centers on a fear of being judged by others or behaving in a way that might cause embarrassment or lead to ridicule.

there is no doubt on song choice that the judges r going to test the contender’s singing ability in a few parts, so the song choice is not going to point out like other spectaculars where people sing their song out which they are superb and manage very well. paul cannot do the boy next door song jus becos he is not suited. but theres where he is weak. if u can manage the songs well, then it becomes a helping song.
for jasmine, such sad songs are out to test jasmine cos the judges wan singapore to c if she can handle this type of songs, and she could!
for hady and jonathan i think they r jus professionals, and they have great potential too, unlike paul. sorry for paul fans, but its the truth…,
i think conditions for choosing idols should b strict so as not to spoil the spectaculars.

i dunno if it’s right to say this. but many of the songs i’ve heard… are tuned down by a few keys. meaning, these kids are singing a few notes lower than the original songs. u don’t hear the extra strain in their vocals when they stretch and reach out for higher notes, which makes most of their songs boring.
and gymnastics i think was a cool term to describe their vocal versatility. i missed mathilda unlike u guys becoz she had that versatility to prove she took the challenge of the song. think christina aguilera and mariah carey. we don’t see that coming out of jasmine or jon even.
paul? no need to say lah…
