Singapore Swordman Robbery
$450k just disppeared in broad daylight. Two employees from gold trading company were on their way to deposit the money at the nearby bank when 4 robbers attacked them.
Mr Uthaman, 44, one of the employees when to start his car at 11.30am while Mr Rop Singh, 58, was carrying two bags of money to the car. Suddenly, a man hit Mr Singh on his head and ran away with one of his bags. The bags must be so heavy that the robber could only take one bag.
Mr Uthaman thought the robber was alone and gave chase. His judgement failed him. Another robber hidden behind a lorry pop out and slash him with a smaurai sword. Mr Uthaman blocked with his arm and his fingers got sliced.
The third employee, who witnessed the whole thing quicky grabbed the other money bag back to the office.
The robbers had a backup plan. One robber take the bag and the other use the sword to stop any chase. If Mr Uthaman had not given chase, he will still be able to use his perfectly working fingers.
Moral of the story : Spend some money to hire a security escort! Imagine $450k is how many months of salary of a security guard?
